Formula E has established itself as one of the major global categories and since 2020 has been granted official championship status by the FIA. It sees electric-powered cars competing, which makes it an ideal subject for Tamiya !
This model reproduces the only car currently approved to participate in the Formula E championship. Designed and built by the company Spark Racing Technology (SRT) and the Italian firm Dallara, the Spark SRT 05E, also called “Spark Gen2” or “Gen2” ( for “Generation 2”), has more powerful batteries than the previous generation and a new driver protection element now imposed on all FIA single-seater categories, the Halo.
This Tamiya RC model is based on the all- new TC-01 chassis with an extremely low profile particularly suited to Formula E bodies.
The sleek, high-tech body , with its hooded wheels, is recreated in polycarbonate. The halo, mirrors and rear diffuser are separately molded elements. Markings are included to recreate the championship race car.
★ Seen from behind, one of the strong points of this car is the prominent diffuser. The superb polycarbonate bodywork is made up of eight parts.
★ Decals are included to recreate the championship car's light blue markings with black and silver areas.
★ The front wheels are covered by hoods with a remarkable design. The areas between the wing and the nose are open to get a glimpse of the Formula E's framework.
★ The driver's protective halo and separate mirrors add a lot of realism to the cabin.
★ The separate rear wing is supported by individual stays which intensify the futuristic appearance of the body.
