Classic power outlets
T-Dean connectors
Dean connectors are mainly used to connect a battery . They are very popular in model making and are often offered already connected with the batteries. You must choose the amperage of the sockets according to your needs (generally from 50A to 100A) which is more than sufficient for a powerful 1/8 brushless.
There are also mini Dean or mini-T which are less bulky Dean connectors but with lower amperage. Dean micros are perfect for low amperage connections.
XT connectors
Despite being slightly more expensive than the Dean, the XT sockets have won over modelers. They are reliable and easy to solder. However, a heat-shrinkable sheath must be added to insulate the plugs on which the cables will be soldered. There are XT30 sockets for 60A, XT60 for 60A and XT90 .
EC connectors
EC sockets are very good alternatives to XT connectors because the soldering of the plugs can be done outside the box. Welding is simpler and the plastic of the case is protected from heat. In addition, they do not require the addition of a heat-shrinkable sleeve because the welds are protected by the housing. There are two types of EC sockets: the EC3 which supports a direct current of 60A and the EC5 for power-hungry installations because it supports a direct current of 120A.
Low current power outlets
Tamiya connectors
Tamiya sockets are reliable and present no risk of accidental disconnection. On the other hand, they are more difficult to unplug than other outlets. They are limited to low intensity direct current (less than 15A). They can only be connected to low-consumption components.
BEC connectors
BEC sockets are intended for smaller installations because they support very low direct currents (from 3 to 5A). They are very light and pre-wired on small, lightweight batteries .
The Lipo Battery Balancing Socket
Now, most Lipo battery chargers offer a balancing function . Indeed, there can be voltage differences between the cells of a battery connected in series (2S, 3S, 4S, etc.). This imbalance can damage the cells or, in the most extreme cases, set the battery on fire.
The balancing plug connects the battery to the charger, giving you access to each cell's information with the ability to recharge them individually. It can also be used as a power socket for accessories that consume little power such as LED bars for example.
Signal sockets
Connectors for servo motors
Either Futaba or JR sockets are used to connect the Rx radio receiver to the servomotor. Most often the male side is connected to the receiver and the female side to the servomotors . These connectors can be single or multiple if you want to control several servos with the same radio receiver.
SMA or RP-SMA connectors
These sockets are used for radio antenna connections . You should know that SMA (male or female) are only compatible with SMA (female or male) and RPSMA (male or female) are only compatible with RPSMA (female or male).
